Our House was chosen from thousands of nominees to receive the "Use Your Life" Award
courtesy of "Oprah’s Angel Network" on an Oprah Winfrey show which was televised in 132 countries. Our House was subsequently featured on three more shows including a follow-up segment on the Our House students, and a special network presentation.

Our House received recognition in the United States Supreme Court as part of the American Institute for Public Service’s national ceremonies. As one of 47 regional winners chosen from a pool of more than 15,000 nominees, Our House was honored in the presence of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor as part of the tribute to the excellence in service to our country.

Our House Youth Home was selected as the 53rd "Point of Light" out of 3,800 nominations nationwide to receive a Presidential Citation recognizing the significant contribution made by the youth of Our House toward solving social problems by their volunteer community service.

Our House students testified in committee and before Congress for the U.S. House of Representatives on the Foster Care Independence Act of 1999 which provides funding to teens in transitional living programs who are aging out of foster care.

Our House was selected as a site to be visited by the director of a training center in Lebanon who wanted to tour a successful residential job training program here in the United States.

Our House was designated by the State Department as one of six youth programs in the United States to be visited and inspected by the director of an orphanage in Moscow, Russia.
Represented Howard County in the "All America City" Competition June, 2001
Our House was one of three programs chosen by the county to attend this National Civic League competition in Atlanta, GA. Our House played a significant role in the county being selected as an "All American County" winner.
Governor's Service and Volunteer Award May, 1998
Our House students were selected from more than 200 nominations statewide for this award in recognition of their community service work. The students were presented an engraved pewter bowl by Gov. Glendenning and Lt. Gov. Kennedy-Townsend.

The students received this award on TV for their 1997 volunteer service in the county. This
was the first time a youth group had ever won this recognition.
